This 9-day itinerary takes you to discover the best of Peru, from Lima to Puno. Start with a City Tour in Lima, then travel to Cusco to explore the colonial city and archaeological sites such as Sacsayhuaman and Qoricancha. Continue with the Sacred Valley, visiting Pisaq, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo before reaching Machu Picchu. Enjoy the salt mines in Maras and the circular terraces of Moray. Experience the natural beauty of Humantay Lagoon and end with the Ruta del Sol to Puno, exploring Andahuaylillas, Raqchi and Pukara. Discover the Floating Islands of Uros and Taquile on Lake Titicaca before returning to Lima for your return flight.
Upon your arrival in Lima, we will be waiting to take you to your hotel. In the afternoon at 2:30 pm, we will start the City Tour in Lima, where we will have a panoramic view of the Pucllana Pyramid, visit the Central Reserve Bank Museum and its collection "Treasures of Peru," and continue with a walking tour of the Plaza Mayor of Lima and its surroundings. We will finish with a visit to the Catacombs of Lima. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Lima.
Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the Lima airport for your flight to Cusco. Reception and transfer to your chosen hotel in Cusco. The rest of the morning is for resting and acclimatization. At the appropriate time, around 1:00 pm, we will pick you up from the hotel to start the City Tour, where we will visit the Cusco Cathedral and observe colonial art from the 16th to the 18th centuries, including paintings and frames made with gold leaf. We will then move on to Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Convent of Santo Domingo. Next, we will visit the archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco, including Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay. Return to Cusco and overnight stay.
Pick up from the hotel at 8:00 am to head to the town of Pisaq (located 50 minutes from Cusco), where we will visit the archaeological complex located 20 minutes from the town and the Typical Artisanal Market. We continue along the banks of the Vilcanota River until we reach the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with a wide variety of food. After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, one of the last living Inca towns. Its streets maintain the same layout as in Inca times, and its main mountain holds wonderful constructions that we will explore.
Our guide will remind us to take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu Town), where we will be met and taken to your hotel. Overnight stay in Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu Town).
The big day has arrived. You will be picked up from your hotel to go to the bus station that will take us to the Machupicchu citadel. We will then have a guided tour of this impressive place for about 2 to 2.5 hours, covering the most important points such as the agricultural sector, religious sector, urban sector, the Temple of the Three Windows, the solar clock, among others. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore the areas of your greatest interest. At the end of the tour, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo, where we will board the bus to Cusco. Overnight stay in Cusco.
Pick up from the hotel at 8:00 am to head to our first destination of the day, the salt mines in Maras, a salt-mining town where we will see more than 3,000 salt pools, which have been exploited since pre-Inca times and used as a means of economic exchange and value. Continuing 7 km to the southwest, we find Moray, a unique archaeological site featuring giant natural depressions or holes used to construct agricultural terraces. Return to Cusco at 2:30 pm. Free afternoon to visit some museums (optional).
Pick up from your hotel at 4:30 am to travel to the town of Mollepata, located 2 hours from Cusco in the lush Apurímac River valley. After a well-deserved breakfast to fill us with energy, we will continue our journey for another hour to Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level). After a brief rest, we will start our hike to Humantay Lake, located at 4200 meters (13779 feet). After about 1 hour and 40 minutes of hiking, we can appreciate this wonderful place, which features one of the most beautiful lakes in Peru. After enjoying this amazing location and recharging our energy, we will return to our campsite to enjoy our lunch with beautiful panoramic views of the snowy peaks. We will then return to Cusco at 6:00 pm. Overnight stay in Cusco.
Pick up from the hotel at 6:30 am to take you to the bus station to start our journey to the city of Puno, which will take nearly 10 hours with stops at places of great cultural interest along the Route of the Sun or the Southern Highlands corridor. We will visit the Andahuaylillas Temple, known as the Sistine Chapel of America, the Inca Temple of Raqchi, the Raya Pass at 4335 meters above sea level, and the Inca Aymara Museum of Pukara, arriving in the city of Puno around 5:00 pm. Transfer to your hotel and rest. Overnight stay in Puno.
Pick up from the hotel to start our tour around 7:00 am at the port of Puno (Lake Titicaca), where we will board the boat to visit the Floating Islands of the Uros for 45 minutes, appreciating the customs and traditions of the inhabitants of this artificial island and their interesting crafts. We will then board our boat again to visit Taquile Island, where we will have a typical lunch, a place of great scenic, ethnic, cultural, and archaeological value. Towards the end of the day, we will return to the Port of Puno, where we will be met and taken to the hotel. Overnight stay in Puno.
Pick up from the hotel in Puno at the appropriate time to head to Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima.
