The Salkantay Trail is a 5-day trekking route that offers impressive landscapes, starting in the Vilcabamba Mountain Range and culminating in Machu Picchu. Located at altitudes ranging from 1,600 meters above sea level to 4,650 meters, this trail passes through diverse ecosystems, from dense forests to arid lands and snow-capped mountains. Highlights include views of the snow-capped Salkantay and other mountains. Recommended by National Geographic Adventure Travel as one of the best trails in the world, the Salkantay Trail allows adventurers to experience the natural beauty of Peru and escape the traditional routes to Machu Picchu. Travelers are advised to acclimatize in Cusco before trekking, and the best time to do so is from April to November. The package includes one night in a hotel in the town of Machu Picchu at the end of the trek.
At dawn we will pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time, we will join the group and travel by private bus to the starting point, called MOLLEPATA. It is an Andean town that is still preserved as old colonial houses and farms of former settlers. Arriving at the town we will be able to observe the Salkantay or Salcantay snow-capped mountain, then we will introduce ourselves to our porters, who will be waiting for us with the horses and in the meantime you will be able to enjoy a delicious local breakfast. We will begin the walk passing through valleys full of vegetation and the homes of Quechua families. We will climb the imposing CH'ALLACANCHA hill, from there, if we are lucky, we will be able to enjoy the flight of the condors. The walk is gentle without pressure, because it is about enjoying yourself to the fullest, soon we will arrive at the lunch and camp site called SORAYPAMPA, after the nap we will continue our walk for another hour and a half to reach the sacred lagoon of HUMANTAY located next door. . to the snowy mountains of Umantay and Salkantay where we will enjoy the waterfall, the wonderful landscape and the green lagoon that is unique in this region and we will also participate in a payment ceremony to Pacha Mama, which will take place along our trail. After a good breakfast, we will be ready to continue our hike (considered the strongest of the trip). At 7:00 am we will cross through Salkantay - Pampa to go to the left side of the snow-capped mountain called Umantay, which is near the Salkantay - Salcantay snow-capped mountain. We will arrive back at 11:00 am, at the highest point of the trail. Salkantay Umantay Pass at 4,650 meters from this point, we will see the mountains and glaciers of the snowy Salkantay
You will be able to enjoy very well the impressive avalanches that occur in the Salkantay - Salcantay mountain. We will take you to a half-hour stop to take photos and enjoy the landscape. We will descend an extra 1h30 to have lunch in the town of Huayracmachay. Then we will continue our walk along the edge of the forest. Until reaching the town of Chaullay or Colpapampa at 5:00 pm (2950 m.n.m) Distance 22 km, in the 2nd camp.
This day is memorable for its variety of flora and fauna that we will see throughout the day. We will appreciate the formation of hot springs in a small valley. We will walk for 5 hours inside the forest, getting to know the varieties of vegetation. Then we will arrive at a town called La Playa, we will have lunch and then we will take a transport for an hour to Santa Teresa. Where we will follow the Salkantay and Santa Teresa rivers, with different varieties of orchids and waterfalls of great magnitude, at the same time we will enjoy the variety of coffee, fruit trees, bananas, avocados, pomegranate. Finally we will arrive at the camp. from Lucmabamba at 2:00 p.m., (2,250 m.n.m.) Distance 15 km, to the 3rd camp.
This day is one of the best days of the trip. We will join the 10 km Inca Trail, normally agencies are not authorized to use this path, but ours is. We will ascend for 2h30 in the middle of coffee, coca leaf and fruit plantations, until we reach the LLAQTAPATA Archaeological Center located 2800 m above sea level, with a panoramic view of the Huayna Picchu - Wayna Pichu mountain. We will perfectly appreciate the Inca city of Machu Picchu and the snow-capped Salkantay. We will descend 2 hours to the hydroelectric sector (where electricity is produced for the city of Cusco), where we will have lunch. Then we will have an additional 2 hours of walking to the town of Águas Calientes. Distance 11 kilometers. We will have dinner and sleep at the chosen hotel at (2,250 m.n.m)

Then you will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes to have lunch and then take the return train according to the departure time.
